- Using Your NDIS Plan
Making your NDIS plan easier to understand and use.
Your NDIS plan gives you funding to access approved supports that help you work towards your goals, manage everyday life, and live with greater independence. Once your plan is approved, you can start using your funding to buy NDIS supports that are in line with your plan. NDIS Guidelines
At Next Step Life Care, we help participants and families understand how our services may fit their plan, including in-home support, nursing care, physiotherapy, occupational therapy, cleaning, and gardening.
- Your Plan Details
Start by reviewing your goals, budgets, and supports.
Every NDIS plan is different. Your plan is based on your individual disability support needs, goals, and circumstances. Plans may include flexible supports and stated supports. Flexible supports can be used in ways that suit your needs, while stated supports must be used only for the specific support described in the plan. NDIS
When reviewing your plan, look at:
- Your NDIS goals
- Your support budgets
- Your funded support categories
- Whether supports are flexible or stated
- How your funding is managed
- Any funding periods or conditions
- Supports already listed in your plan
- NDIS Support Budgets
Your plan may include different types of funding.
NDIS plans can include up to four support budgets, and each budget can have different rules around how funding is used. NDIS
Core Supports
Funding that may help with everyday activities, daily living needs, and practical support.
Capacity Building Supports
Funding that may help build skills, independence, confidence, mobility, and daily living ability.
Capital Supports
Funding that may be used for higher-cost items such as assistive technology, equipment, or home modifications where approved in the plan.
Recurring Supports
Funding that may be paid regularly for specific ongoing supports included in the participant’s plan.
- Funding Management
Your plan can be managed in different ways.
How your funding is managed affects how providers are paid and how claims are made. NDIS participants may have different support categories managed in different ways, such as self-managed, plan-managed, or NDIA-managed. NDIS
Self-Managed
You or your nominee manage the funding, pay providers, and make claims through the my NDIS app or participant portal. NDIS
Plan-Managed
A registered plan manager helps pay providers, manage invoices, and track your budget. You can still choose the providers you want to deliver your NDIS supports. NDIS
NDIA-Managed
The NDIA pays providers directly after supports have been delivered. Participants are still responsible for using their plan appropriately. NDIS
